1. How Long does it take to Climb Mount Kilimanjaro?
Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to the summit is a 5 to 9 day trek experience. The higher the number of trekking days 7-9, the higher the summit success rate, and the lower the number of trekking days, the lower the summit success rate. There is no technical climbing involved in climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. You simply walk to the peak. How long it takes to reach the summit depends mostly on how well you can acclimatize to the lack of sufficient oxygen at high altitudes.
2. How Much Does it Cost to Climb Kilimanjaro?
Kilimanjaro climbing costs vary from cheap, standard, to luxury trekking. Some standard fixed costs do apply for all the climbing categories, such as the Kilimanjaro National Park Fees.
Most operators providing cheap Kilimanjaro climbing safaris cut costs by providing low wages to the crew members, or they don’t provide proper climbing equipment for the crew members. The Lemosho and Machame routes over 7 or 8 days are the best routes to climb Kilimanjaro if you want the best chance of summiting – excellent acclimatization and an easier summit night make these clear winners. And, because reaching the summit is the most important goal for most of our climbers, we declare this the best route to climb Kilimanjaro.
The most picturesque way to Mount Kilimanjaro
The Lemosho route, approaching from the west, has the best views, with breathtaking landscapes in all directions.
The most challenging route to summit Kilimanjaro
If you are looking for an adventure and a unique wilderness experience the crater camp option is the best route to climb Kilimanjaro for you- less than 1 % of climbers get to do this and all our climbers who do it rave about it.
Kilimanjaro's quietest ascent route
If choosing to stay away from traffic is a top priority for you, the Rongai route is the best choice for your Kilimanjaro trek. However, be aware that the success rate would be lower.
Best Time to Climb Mount Kilimanjaro
The months of January through early March, as well as June through October, are ideal for climbing Kilimanjaro. These months provide favourable hiking conditions because of the clear skies, great views, and sunshine, however, the weather has the potential to change dramatically and suddenly.
While Mt. Kilimanjaro can be climbed at any time of year, the months of April and November are more challenging because they are the wettest. But this also means fewer people on the mountain, which can be more enjoyable. The north side of the mountain receives less precipitation, making Rongai and Northern Circuit Routes worth considering more heavily.
