Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro treks are a substantial financial commitment for clients, with relatively slim profit margins for tour companies after national park fees and operational expenses. A recent 18% VAT implementation by the government has also driven an already saturated market into a much more competitive environment.
Sadly, this means many companies are forced to undercut prices which often results in the sacrifice of working conditions and fair salaries for the crew.
