Nyange Adventures | 7 Days Kilimanjaro Machame Trekking

7 DAYS MACHAME TREK

Starting from $2,300 for private climbs

Trek overview

The Machame route is a favorite for climbers because it is beautiful and lets your body get used to the high altitude slowly. This route starts on the western side of the mountain, near the Shira Plateau. It takes a bit longer than some other routes, but that is a good thing because you will have a better chance of reaching the top, Uhuru Peak. Want an even more amazing adventure? You can also spend a night at the Kibo Crater Camp (extra cost, but totally worth it!).

Itinerary

Upon landing at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO), our friendly driver will be waiting for you just outside customs control, holding a Nyange Adventure sign with your name on it. They’ll assist you with your luggage and whisk you comfortably to your Moshi hotel.

At the hotel, your expert guide will conduct a pre-climb briefing to answer any questions you have and provide important details about the trek. This includes an equipment check to ensure you have everything for a safe and comfortable climb. Don’t worry if you’re missing something! Good quality gear can be rented locally at reasonable prices. If you arrive at night, the briefing and equipment check might be scheduled for the following morning. With everything prepared, you can relax in Moshi, ready to embark on your exciting Kilimanjaro challenge!

Your adventure begins at Machame Gate, where lush rainforests teeming with vibrant birdlife and playful monkeys greet you. Hike amidst this captivating scenery as your expert guide unveils the region’s unique flora and fauna. After a captivating day, set up camp amidst the rainforest’s mystical aura, ready for your incredible Kilimanjaro journey.

Day 2 leads you towards the historical Shira Plateau, a collapsed volcanic crater steeped in history. Witness panoramic views of the majestic Kibo peak, your ultimate summit goal. As you ascend, the landscape transforms, offering a glimpse into the mountain’s diverse ecological zones. Reach new heights and experience the thrill of camping on Shira Plateau, surrounded by breathtaking vistas.
On Day 3, you’ll challenge yourself with an ascent of the iconic Lava Tower, a volcanic rock formation offering stunning panoramic views. This day is crucial for acclimatization, as your guide will share valuable techniques to help your body adjust to the increasing altitude. Celebrate reaching Barranco Camp, nestled amidst a scenic valley, a well-deserved rest after a challenging yet rewarding day.
Day 4 brings the exciting challenge of conquering the Barranco Wall, a test of your strength and determination. Navigate through glacial valleys sculpted by powerful forces of nature, and marvel at the awe-inspiring landscape. As you conquer the wall, celebrate reaching Karanga Camp, where you can savor the breathtaking views and prepare for the next leg of your adventure.
Day 5 leads you to a significant junction connecting with the famed Mweka Trail. Traverse a dramatic rocky ridge, witnessing the ever-changing scenery as you approach the summit zone. Finally, arrive at Barafu Camp, perched on a high-altitude ridge with stunning views that will leave you speechless. Prepare yourself for the ultimate challenge – the summit push!
It is the unforgettable summit night adventure under a star-filled sky. Ascend through challenging terrain to witness a breathtaking sunrise from the rim of Kibo Crater. Celebrate reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, a testament to your unwavering spirit and physical prowess! After this momentous achievement, descend safely back to Barafu Camp for some well-deserved rest before continuing your descent to Mweka Camp at a lower altitude for the night.
Descend through lush rainforests on your final day, celebrating with a summit certificate at Mweka Gate. Reflect on your incredible accomplishment as you return – you’ve conquered Kilimanjaro!
