Its sparse vegetation makes it a beautiful and special location, where up to 300 elephants can be found, looking for underground streams in the dry riverbeds. Migratory wildebeest, zebra, and buffalo can also be seen crowding the shrinking lagoons. Here you will enjoy an afternoon game drive with a picnic lunch.

Have a full day of a game drive as you explore the park. The all-weather roads are passable throughout the rains so it is a great all-year-round safari destination. An excellent place for close-up encounters with lions, and you’ll have a great chance to see the very shy leopard. The open savannahs are surrounded by mountains making for great vistas and dramatic skies. Watch the sunset over the hippo pools then return to your lodge accommodation – Camp Bastian Mikumi.

Leave Mikumi National park with a picnic lunch and drive to the Udzungwas. You will arrive for an afternoon hike up to the Sanje Waterfalls. Cool off in the waters as you look over the savanna below. After breakfast, continue to drive to Sable Mountain lodge via Morogoro town and on this day will be an easy drive and it will help to shorten the trip from Udzungwa mountain to Selous/Nyerere National park. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the way with spectacular views.

After breakfast, enjoy an en-route game drive to Selous game reserves now known as Nyerere National park via Matambwe gate. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the Selous Game Reserve. Spend your days exploring this vast Game Reserve, following hunts as they develop and watching the game go about its business in this unspoiled and undiscovered wilderness. Visit WWI battlegrounds and the ‘Maji Moto’ hot springs. Go on a guided walking safari with a park ranger and your guide. Then explore the mighty Rufiji River by boat as you see hippos, crocs, and wildlife coming down to drink. Overnight stay at Selous Mapumziko lodge.

After breakfast and a final morning game drive, you will leave the Selous as you make your way back to Dar es Salaam airport to catch up on your flight.
